Cold Shoulder Ruffle Sweater + Vermont Travel Guide!

SWEATER: BP. // JEANS: Topshop // BOOTIES: Vionic // BAG: Lipault Paris // SUNGLASSES: ILY Couture (only $22!)

Happy Halloween, everyone!  Sadly, I didn't dress up this year... did anyone do anything fun?!  Halloween has never been one my favorite holidays and I think it has a lot to do with the fact that it always gets SO cold right around now (it's 40 degrees in Chicago today... brrr!!)

A couple weeks ago, I had the opportunity to travel to Vermont and had such an amazing time.  Being the beginning of October, the trees had already changed colors and it was just so gorgeous!  I stayed in Burlington but go to explore a little bit of Stowe as well.  A lot of you asked for a travel guide (where I stayed, where I ate, where I went... etc) so here it is!  Let me know if you have any questions or want any other recommendations.

STAY:
Hotel Vermont- This boutique hotel located right in the heart of Burlington (and super close to the water) was such an adorable little gem!  The lobby has a giant hang out area including a fireplace, so it was the perfect spot to come to after being out in the cold (it was freezing there!)  I also loved the rooms, super spacious and cozy.

EAT:

American Flatbread- This cozy pizza place was SO delicious.  They make all of their pizzas in a wood-fired clay oven so the crust is baked to perfection! It's definitely a super casual place and would be great for kids as well.

El Cortijo- This Mexican restaurant located right off of Church Street is perfect for grabbing some tacos and a margarita (the coconut margarita was AMAZING!) It's inside an old diner, so the interior still resembles that old diner feel.  I went on a weeknight and got a spot at the bar, but I have heard the wait can be long- so get there early!

Hen of the Wood- This restaurant was located right next to Hotel Vermont, so it's super convenient if you're staying there, however I will say it was packed- even on a weekday night.  I did more research on this place after seeing it next door and realized it had 5 star raving reviews, so I knew I needed to try it.  I had to wait over an hour for a table, but it was more than worth it.  The food is really that good!

Skinny Pancake- SO this place seems to be pretty popular in the Vermont area.  I read about it on another blog and wanted to try it out (it's walking distance from Hotel Vermont) and I will say, it was pretty dang good! If you like crepes, they make savory and sweet crepes in just about any combination... and they also serve lunch food!  There are a few different locations in Vermont, so if you aren't staying in Burlington there might be one by you.

Myers Bagels- Before Vermont, I was in Montreal for a day and really wanted to get a bagel but didn't have the time.   I found Myers Bagels and ended up going there 3 mornings in a row.  Their most popular bagel is the Montreal Spice with Montreal Spice cream cheese... it was so good, but I personally liked their Lox better!  This is the perfect spot for grabbing a quick (and cheap) breakfast or lunch.

GO:

Church Street- This street is so adorable and has tons of shops and coffee shops.  A bunch of the shops I went into carried high end designer items, while others were local and eclectic.  There is also a Ben & Jerry's on the corner that always has a super long line! (fun fact, Ben & Jerry's started in Vermont and they have a factory there!)

Cold Hollow Cider Mill- If you like apple cider & apple cider donuts, you will love this cider mill! It's definitely a tourist spot, but they make some of the best I've ever had! I personally liked the hot apple cider because it was freezing that day, but they also serve it cold and you can buy it to take home.

Another thing I recommend, is renting a car and driving east on the freeway, especially if you're there in the fall!  The drive is absolutely breathtaking... I had to pull over a couple times just to take it all in! xoxo

Yellow Cold Shoulder

TOP: Nordstrom // JEANS: AG // BOOTIES: Sold out, Similar HERE // EARRINGS: Baublebar (c/o) // BAG: Sold out, Similar HERE

Good Morning, friends! The temps are finally starting to drop in Chicago and the trees are changing, but nothing compared to the amazingness of Vermont in the fall. I traveled to Montreal for a night last week and spent two days in Vermont and was blown away by how gorgeous it is there.  I stayed in Burlington (a cute little laid back town) but had the opportunity to drive out to Stowe.  If you ever head to Vermont, make sure you drive a little ways out to see how insanely gorgeous all the mountains and trees are along the freeway.  There was a few times I had to actually pull over just to take in the views (and a few pictures!) I was thinking about doing a Vermont travel guide soon with all the places I went, because when I went there I had no idea where to go, but ended up finding some amazing spots!

Anyways, on to this top... it's a favorite for fall this year because of the color (obsessed with this yellow color currently) and the price point! It's under $50 and comes in 4 colors, meaning you could have one in each color!! It's a super light weight material and the ruffles on the cold shoulder just make it 10x cuter. These earrings from Baublebar (also come in 4 different colors) are the perfect accessory for this color and would be equally as cute with this top in black.  I also recently wore this top with a jean skirt when it was a little warmer and it looked just as good- so all you warm weather ladies (florida and texas I am looking at you) it would still be perfect for you!!

I hope everyone has a great week! xoxo

Our Engagement Photos

Black Crop TopRent the Runway (c/o) // White Tulle SkirtRent the Runway (c/o) // Black & White Colorblock DressRent the Runway (c/o) // HEELSChristian Louboutin

Happy Friday! I wanted to share some of my favorite engagement photos with you all- captured by the amazing Lynzie of Bonphotage.  I fell in love with the film style photography she does and knew it would be perfect for capturing my vision of the wedding!  We started our photos right by Lake Michigan and the day/weather could not have been better.  I swear the whole week had been horrible weather and it was actually supposed to storm on the day we were having them done- but it held out and ended up being warm and sunny!  After shooting some by the lake, we went over to a cute little spot in Lincoln Park (right by the zoo) to film the rest.  It was so much fun, and even Matt did such a great job!  Being a blogger, I'm definitely used to shooting all the time... but Matt on the other hand is not.  He went through the entire 2 hour shoot and didn't complain once- definitely a keeper! :)

When I was deciding what to wear for the engagement photos, I knew I wanted something more neutral and classic, so I decided to go with two black & white looks.  This Kate Spade dress was the first thing that caught my attention when I was browsing Rent the Runway and was immediately drawn to the adorable bow on the back and the fit.  Kate Spade makes the prettiest & most feminine dresses and they always fit perfectly!  This dress would also make for an adorable wedding guest dress or a cocktail event.  I also envisioned wearing a fun tulle skirt, so when I saw this Bailey 44 white one, I knew I had to wear it.  The skirt has an elastic waistband so it's comfortable on the waist and the perfect length.   To go with skirt, I got the Shoshanna crop top which I absolutely loved. It's super comfortable and just the right length to accompany the skirt.  Each piece I received fit true to size, but as always, Rent the Runway lets you rent two sizes just in case!

The engagement photos definitely got me even more excited for the wedding- I can't wait to see how Bonphotage captures the big day! xoxo

**Thank you to Lynzie @ Bonphotage for the amazing photos & Rent the Runway for the amazing outfits for this shoot <3

Ruffle Cold Shoulder Sweatshirt

SWEATSHIRTLush // JEANSAG // BAGGiGi New York // SHOESBoohoo (under $20!)

Happy Tuesday! When I saw this ruffle cold shoulder sweatshirt at Nordstrom, I knew I had to have it for fall.  The color is the perfect neutral and it's so comfy.  It also comes in black and is less than $40!  My job requires me to be pretty casual, so I am lucky that I don't have to dress up everyday.  If you're office is on the casual side, this sweatshirt is so warm, even though it's an off the shoulder.  I also really love these AG jeans for fall.  They are an amazing dark denim color and fit perfectly (true to size!)  I also have been asked a million times where my embroidered mules are from... you can get them here and they are under $20!  I wear these all the time and get so many compliments... such a great deal for good quality mules, which also come in two other colors.

This week is SO busy, I am leaving for some fun places this weekend so stay tuned to see where! xoxo

Bell Sleeve Sweater

SWEATERBP. // JEANSBLANKNYC // BOOTIES: Old, Almost exact dupes HERE // BAG: Old, Similar HERE // EARRINGSBaublebar // NECKLACELove Always (mine is 3XL)

Happy October, everyone!  I have to say, October is definitely my least favorite month of the year... mainly because it starts to get super cold in Chicago, however it's transitioning into my FAVORITE month of the year next month, November!  One thing I will say I love about the temps dropping a little bit is bringing back out the sweaters and booties.  Sweaters and booties are definitely my favorite pieces of clothing other than off the shoulder tops of course. :)

This bell sleeve sweater is one of my favorites for fall.  It's actually super light weight but also soft and warm, the perfect combo.  It comes in 3 colors and is only $39 bucks!  I also love these jeans by BLANKNYC.  BLANKNYC is such an affordable denim line, and these have just the right amount of stretch and distress as well as the perfect ankle length for a 5'5 frame!  My booties are older from Sole Society, however I found these wedge booties that are almost identical (including a cute little zipper) for under $100.

I hope everyone has a great Wednesday!! xoxo
