My Stay at the Fairmont Dallas

Happy Tuesday!! A couple weekends ago I traveled to Dallas, TX with my good friend for a little staycation at the Fairmont downtown. This was my first time ever in Texas, so I was super excited to visit the southwest and bask in the heat. It was a quick weekend trip, but the Fairmont was so good to us that it was definitely a weekend to remember.  When I first checked into the Fairmont, every single person that I spoke to was so unbelievably nice and accommodating.  The concierge and doormen especially, always making sure I was happy and covered.  One thing that I especially loved was their complimentary car that will take you within a one mile radius of the hotel.  This is super nice and convenient if you want to check out the bars/restaurants on Mckinny Street or attend a concert at the American Airlines Center.  The hotel is in the absolute perfect location for exploring the city!

When I first got to my room (a HUGE two bedroom suite) I was amazed by the amount of detail they put into everything.  Both my friend and I had personalized toiletries in each of our bathrooms and even a bottle of Cabernet Savinougn (our favorite!) was waiting for us to toast a fun girls weekend in Dallas!  A local flower shop thats connected to the hotel Franzie's Flower Design, brought us a bouquet of beautiful pink roses that complimented the room perfectly.  I can't say enough about the actual rooms.  They were extremely spacious and clean and the beds were probably one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever stayed in.

For breakfast, we checked out the restaurant located in the hotel called Pyramid Restaurant and Bar. We started with an assortment of fresh pressed juices (my favorite being the cucumber, lime and cilantro) and had a gourmet breakfast spread of an egg-white omelet, banana nut french toast (it's all about balance, right?) and the green onion hash browns- a must have! We were then brought over an amazing little portion of oatmeal brule to end an amazing meal.  The service we received from the waitstaff was just as amazing as the meal itself.  After breakfast, we headed up to the pool for a day in the sun.  It was SO hot while we were in Dallas, so it was so nice to have a pool to hang out in all day.  They have a pool bar that serves all types of fun drinks and snacks.  I had the watermelon margarita, which was the perfect drink for a warm summer day.  I was very surprised by how nice the actual pool area itself was.  It felt like being back home at the country club pool or somewhere I would go to just hang out on the regular- it was huge!

The following day we were headed to Waco, so we stocked up on Starbucks (also conveniently located off the hotel lobby) to give us fuel for the 2 hour drive.  We were super excited to go visit Magnolia Farms because we are both huge fans of the show "Fixer Upper," I mean who doesn't love Chip and Joanna Gaines?!  It was such a fun day exploring another city in Dallas and would definitely recommend renting a car for the day to enjoy Waco!

We had such a great visit at the Fairmont and would highly recommend it to anyone who is traveling to Dallas in the future.  The staff will go out of their way to make sure you're stay is nothing short of amazing.

I rounded up some of my recommendations of places to go while visiting Dallas, I hope you find this helpful!

Dinner:
Pecan Lodge: Long lines but amazing BBQ.  They don't take reservations so expect to wait at least 30-45 minutes.  We waited around 30 minutes, but the food was SO worth it!

Urban Taco: A cute little tex-mex restaurant located in Uptown on Mckenny Street.  It was packed and had such a fun vibe, including open air outdoor seating and live music.  We had a trio of guacamole and lettuce wrap tacos.  Even the skinny margarita was delicious!

Pōk The Raw Bar: I kind of have a Poke obsession and this place is trendy and so cute.  It's a Poke/ Matcha bar that offers traditional bowls or build your own.  I haven't gotten into the Matcha craze, but it was crazy busy with people ordering it!

Drinks:
The Happiest Hour: SUCH a fun place located super close to the hotel.  This place is huge and is perfect for after work cocktails and happy hour snacks.  We sat in the inside, however there is an awesome outdoor patio area if you're brave enough to sit in the heat.

The Pyramid Bar (located in the Fairmont):  This bar is super classy! It's the perfect spot to hang if you're staying at the hotel or even just popping by for a drink.  It's a lively atmosphere for being inside a hotel.

Dessert:
Emporium Pies: We stopped here after dinner and every single pie looked amazing! I have a friend who lives in Dallas and this is her favorite place to pick up dessert after dinner.  They have a two locations in the city.

Entertainment:
American Airlines Center: We attended the Ed Sheeran concert there and it was in such an amazing location.  If you are coming to see a Mavericks game or concert, the Fairmont is walking distance (or take the complimentary car!) to the venue.

House of Blues Dallas: We didn't go here, but it was also in close proximity to the hotel.  The House of Blues always holds fun concerts and events, so staying at the Fairmont is a must if it's on your to-go list!  It also has a fun outdoor area where we noticed lots of people playing games like bags right outside the venue.

Thank you Fairmont Dallas for having us!!

Striped Ruffle Tank

TANK TOP: Lucy Paris // SHORTS: Nordstrom // BAG: Sold out (Similar HERE by same designer) // WEDGES: Marc Fisher // EARRINGS: Baublebar

Happy Monday, everyone!  I just got back from a weekend stay-cation in Dallas (first time there!) and had such a great time.  I will have a recap post up on the blog soon, but I have to say- Dallas surprised me in many ways, it's such a cool city!  After a super early flight home and a day spent at the Air and Water show in Chicago,  it's safe to say I am exhausted.  I can't wait to go to bed early tonight!

This ruffle tank I picked up from Bloomingdales recently is so light weight and feminine- perfect for this warm temps we've been experiencing in Chicago (should have thought to bring it with me to Dallas this weekend- it was over 100 degrees!!)  I was a little worried when I saw it in stores because I thought it was going to be super short, but it ended up being the perfect length for wearing with jeans or shorts (like these adorable distressed ones.) I've also been loving on these gold foil drop earrings from Baublebar.  I swear I have around 10 different colors of the same earrings because I love them so much.  The gold is perfect for dressing up or down and don't weigh down on your earlobes like a lot of other dangly earrings do!

I hope everyone has a great week! xoxo

Lemon Jumpsuit

JUMPSUIT: For Love & Lemons  // WEDGES: Marc Fisher // EARRINGS: Baublebar // BAG: Gucci // RING: Kendra Scott

Happy Monday, friends! I wore this outfit last week for a fun dinner with friends and it's the perfect transition piece from summer to fall! The lemon print is so fun and feminine and the fit is perfection.  I've always been a fan of For Love & Lemons, so as soon as I saw this jumpsuit, I had to get it.  It's definitely more of a splurge, but once you put it on you won't want to take it off! We are planning on going to Italy next year for our Honeymoon and this would be the perfect jumpsuit for exploring the Amalfi Coast!!  I of course had to pair it with my favorite Marc Fisher wedges that I wear all the time.  These wedges are tall, but seriously so comfortable!!

Did everyone have a good weekend?! Mine was pretty low-key, however I think we finally found our wedding venue and date- fingers crossed! Now time to start crossing other things off the never ending list.  xoxo

My Trip to Grand Geneva

PINEAPPLE FLOAT: SunnyLife

A couple weeks ago I had the opportunity to travel (not too far outside of Chicago) to Lake Geneva, WI for a blogger retreat to the Grand Geneva.  I had been to this resort before when I was little, so I was excited to go back and experience it as an adult!  From the moment we got there, the staff was so nice and accommodating.  We stayed in the brand new Villas ranging from studios to 3 bedrooms.  I got to share a two bedroom villa with Mary from Sportsanista (go follow her!) and was amazed by how nice they were!  The staff left us some goodies in our fridge (Spotted Cow beer-my favorite!!) and lots of bites for late night snacking.  In our villa, we had two bedrooms and one bathroom on the main floor and an upstairs with a full kitchen, sofa, bathroom and patio overlooking the private villa pool... it was nothing less than amazing.  Another perk?! It's dog friendly if your dog is under 25 pounds!  Check out the villas here.

We arrived on a Sunday, actually the day after I got engaged, so I was feeling a little crazy from celebrating the night before.  We were all so hungry, so we were whisked away to lunch at the Golf course restaurant Links.  I had an amazing crab salad and there was a bloody-mary bar (with all the fixings) which was a huge help to my never-ending hangover.  The view at Links is absolutely breathtaking as it over looks the golf course and has the prettiest flowers scattered everywhere. After lunch we were taken on a trolley tour throughout the grounds to see all the areas the Grand Geneva has to offer.  There is an adventure center on grounds that has archery, disc golf and hiking during the summer and skiing during the winter, so there is always something to do when visiting!  Our group did the archery and it was so much fun.  I hadn't done archery since high school gym class, so it was fun to be able to try it out again (even though I was horrible at it!)

Later on that night, we had a giant float pool party at our private villa pool and snacked on some appetizers before dinner.  For dinner, we got to experience the ChopHouse restaurant located in the resort.  We started with a seafood spread including shrimp, oysters, crab and so much more... it was delicious! I ordered the lamb chops because I had steak the night before and they were cooked to perfection- my mouth is still watering thinking about it!  For dessert, the wonderful staff brought us out endless amounts of cakes, pies and creme brûlées to try out.  The carrot cake is to die for and definitely a must if you ever make it there.

The next morning we woke up for our spa services at the Well Spa + Salon.  I had a massage treatment done and it was absolutely amazing and super relaxing. The Spa offers anything from massages to facials to mani/pedi's, as well as hair services in the Salon.  This was the icing on the cake to such a great experience at the Grand Geneva.  After our spa services were over, we had lunch at the Grand Cafe in the main lobby (I had the mediterranean salad with shrimp-so delicious) before heading back to Chicago.  With over 10 restaurants, cafes and lounges on the property, there is definitely something for everyone.  I would love to visit the Italian restaurant the next time I am there!

If you'd like to visit the resort for yourself, the Grand Geneva is currently offering my followers 30% off their stay now- December 31st (some blackout days apply).  Book HERE to take advantage of this amazing offer! xoxo

Life Hacks with Tai Pei Chinese Food

This post was sponsored by Tai Pei and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.

Happy Thursday! Last week I attended an event hosted by the Tai Pei, a frozen Chinese food company, with special guest Danielle Moss from the EveryGirl. Before attending the event, I had never heard nor had Tai Pei before, so I was excited to try it out! I will admit, I was a bit hesitant before trying it- I LOVE Chinese food, but typically go for the classic take-out over microwaveable food, but I was pleasantly surprised how fresh and good it tasted as the quality is definitely there!  I tried 3 different kinds of classic Chinese dishes, Beef & Broccoli, Chicken Chow Mein and General Tso's Spicy Chicken as well as Chicken Egg rolls that are also microwaveable.  My favorite Chinese dish is Tso's Chicken, so this flavor was definitely my favorite of the night, however, I can't wait to try the Chicken Fried Rice. The packaging is also super convenient as it's made for an individual dish- all you have to do is pop it in the microwave for a few minutes and enjoy a fresh take-out like meal right out of the container... it's even fiance approved!

What I really enjoy most about Tai Pei is how easily it fits into my busy lifestyle.  With an 9-5 job outside of blogging, I feel like I never have enough time in my day, so anything that can save me time is amazing in my book.  By eating these meals, it honestly saves me so much time because they are ready in minutes and fill me up.  I recently starting heating up some instant brown rice in the microwave to make it a full meal for dinner and to spruce it up a little.  There are 10 different microwaveable entrees to choose from as well as potstickers, egg rolls and spring rolls, so I never get sick of eating the same thing over and over.  To try Tai Pei for yourself, click HERE for a coupon!
