Father's Day Gift Ideas with Gordmans

This post is sponsored by Gordmans.  As always, all opinions are my own.  Thank you for supporting brands that make Marvelous in the Midwest possible!

With Father's day just around the corner (this Sunday to be exact!), I wanted to show you all some great last minute gift ideas that won't break the bank and would be perfect for any Father you're celebrating this year!  Last weekend when I was back in Wisconsin, I headed into Gordmans to check out their gift selection and was pleasantly surprised.  One thing most men like to do (especially my dad) is grill, so I picked this Budweiser BBQ sauce set with a baster.  I also found a wing rack for grilling wings and thought what better to go with the BBQ sauce then a clever way to fire up some wings on the grill! I can't wait to go back home and try them out for myself.  I also thought the Whiskey serving set would be a great gift, as it comes with two whiskey glasses, whiskey stones, a cube ice mold, bourbon peanuts and a smoked honey whiskey topper- all for only $9.99!!   This was such a great deal, that I decided to pick up a couple of them for other gifts (think father-in-law, brother, friend, or just anyone else who really loves whiskey!)

I did notice while shopping at Gordmans, all of the other great stuff they had available for dads such as signs to hang in the house, beer glasses with funny sayings on them and even sports teams memorabilia (all WI in our WI store!)  If you're still looking for a perfect gift, definitely head to Gordmans-- I swear that store has everything (I may or may not have picked up a couple things for me as well :))

Staycation with Babbleboxx

This post is sponsored by Babbleboxx.  Thank you for supporting brands that make Marvelous in the Midwest possible!

Happy Monday, friends!! This past weekend was my bridal shower in Milwaukee, and it was SO much fun.  My mom and I went a day early and stayed at the Kimpton Journeyman Hotel (where the shower was taking place) and had a little mini "staycation" before the celebration began.  I was super excited to be able to use some of the goodies I received from Babbleboxx for this staycation, so I wanted to show you all what was in the box!

Faustino Gran Reserva- I love trying out new wines, so I was super excited about this Faustino Gran Reserva that was included in the box.  This wine is an intense, bright cherry red. Per its description, it's aromatic and complex, with notes of tobacco, cedar, and leather against a background of ripe fruit, jam and spices. It definitely has a powerful yet velvety flavor of red fruits and licorice and tastes amazing- perfect for pairing with lamb, duck, pork or beef.

Flatiron Books- I always get excited to try out new books and when I travel and make sure to have one on hand.  Thanks to Flatiron Books, I was able to break out the book My Ex-Life by Stephen McCauley. McCauley is the bestselling author of The Object of My Affection, which was made into a movie with Jennifer Anniston and Paul Rudd (which I loved.)  The book is about two exes that reconnect, and it's hilarious! I definitely recommend it if you're looking for a light-hearted read.

Bellame: Aqua Lumiere Hydrating Eye Cream & Moisturizer: I am always looking for new skincare products and after trying this eye cream and moisturizer for a few days, I am officially hooked.  The eye cream is silky and really stands up to the demands of the orbital area.  I noticed it significantly decreased the appearance of fine lines, deflated some puffiness and diminished my dark circles.  The moisturizer can be used both day and night to also target fine lines and wrinkles and doesn't have a strong smell like a lot of moisturizers do!

*Right now, you can receive a FREE set of six ultra-luxe Bellame bamboo sourced washcloths with the purchase of the Aqua Lumiere collection. Gift valued at $22. Shop HERE

Erin's Faces: Deet Free Mosquito repellent- I was actually extremely happy to see this was in the box.  We went up to the rooftop (the Insider) for some drinks after dinner this weekend, and since it had been raining all day and was pretty humid, the mosquitos were definitely out in full force.  This vegan repellent really helped keep them away by using the essentials oils of eucalyptus, citronella, and lemongrass!  I plan to keep this in my bag and bring it with me to all outdoor activities this summer... the mosquitos in the Midwest are no joke y'all.

Bali Smart Size Shaping Wirefree Bra- One thing I love about a good bra is the comfort it provides as well as the support.  This bra is just that and so much more! It's super affordable, comes in an array of colors and is the perfect amount of cool comfort. With the ComfortFlex Fit® 4 way stretch, it provides a flexible fit that shapes to your body.  I plan to wear this bra under my lightweight tees all summer long since it's breathable and comfy!

OMM: Thickening Hair Mask & Thickening Oil- Having extensions can sometimes take a toll on your hair and dry out quickly if you don't regularly use a hair mask.  This hair mask by OMM made my real hair (and extensions!) feel super silky and nourished.  The light jasmine scent smells amazing and it creates just the right amount of thickness without feeling weighed down.  The thickening oil isn't greasy like a lot of them can be and really works to strengthen and nourish the hair shaft.

Palm Print Romper

ROMPER: Buddy Love // SANDALS: Olivia Miller // BAG: Forever 21 (not online, but similar HERE) // SUNGLASSES: Francesca's // EARRINGS: Etsy

This palm print romper from BuddyLove is giving me major summer feels! Now that it's finally starting to stay warm in Chicago, I am breaking out all my summer clothes and just super excited to be able to wear fun little rompers like this one again! What I love about this romper, is how comfortable and vibrant it is in person! I paired it with my favorite tassel earrings (they are only $12!!) and straw bag.  This romper would seriously be perfect for a backyard bbq or even brunch with friends this summer... I even wore it once with a denim jacket when it was a little bit cooler and got SO many compliments.

How was everyone's memorial day weekend?! I was in Scottsdale celebrating a bachelorette party of one of my good friends, and it just got me so much more excited for mine!! With the wedding less than 4 months away, it's starting to get down to the wire and I am overwhelmed with all the stuff still left to do! If anyone has any wedding-related advice, please send it my way!! xoxo

What To Wear To Your Bridal Shower

Kate Spade Cameo Pink Bow Dress (Fits TTS- wearing my regular size 4)

Happy Friday!!  This weekend I am off to celebrate one of my oldest friends' bachelorette party in Scottsdale, but first I wanted to get this very requested blog post up!

If there is one thing I've learned through this Wedding planning process, is to seek advice from others, which is why I love WeddingWire!  WeddingWire has been a saving grace through this planning process... especially because I am doing it all on my own!  I created my whole website through them as well as use their checklists and read through their forums for any questions I want answers to.  It's super easy to sign up and is more or less a one-stop for all wedding related info... It's crazy how many people have reached out to me since getting engaged wanting advice or outfit ideas for their own showers, bachelorette's etc, so I thought this was the perfect time to team up with Rent the Runway to show you all some amazing and affordable options for your own shower!

What I have always loved about Rent the Runway is that you can essentially "borrow" a piece of clothing and never have to wear it again!  If you're like, I don't necessarily love wearing the same things twice (especially to an event) so I love the flexibility that comes with Rent the Runway!  They've also recently come out with their Wedding Concierge program which you can do for yourself (the bride) or for your whole bridal party! It starts at around $200 for two events, and it gives you access to thousands of designer dresses (think Badgley Mischka, DVF, Jill Stuart, Kate Spade, Marchesa Notte, etc) and accessories.  You also get a personal concierge to help you out and easy try on's and fittings in the comfort of your own home! So whether it be a shower, a bachelorette party, or even the wedding itself, they've got you covered.

My best advice when picking out your dress (or jumpsuit- we ALL know I love a good jumpsuit!) for the shower is:

1. Wear something white or lightly colored.  You're getting married and this is the perfect time to glow in all white!  It's classic & traditional, and everyone will know you are the bride.

2.  Dress modestly and classic!  You will most likely be around multiple family members such as grandmas, aunts, etc... so keep it covered up and save the other pieces for the bachelorette party!

3. Wear something comfortable.  Since a shower is usually around 4 hours or so, wear something you can sit down in, move around easy in and also eat in! There is usually always yummy treats (and drinks!) at bridal showers, so wear something that lets you do enjoy.

4.  Don't spend a ton of money! This is one event and you're going to most likely have lots of others- take my advice and check out Rent the Runway- most of these dresses rent for under $100!

I hope this helps you plan for your Bridal shower! As always, feel free to message me with any questions. xoxo

My Trip to Napa

Happy Thursday! As promised, I wanted to give you all a look into the amazing trip I went on with Downtown Napa a couple of weeks ago.  I had been to Napa once, before I turned 21, so I was really excited to go back and actually be of legal drinking age this time.  What I didn't realize, is that in addition to the amazing wineries that live in Napa, they also have an adorable little downtown area as well.

I stayed at the Napa River Inn and it definitely exceeded all expectations!  Located right along the Napa River, this inn grants walking distance to all the shops, restaurants and wineries downtown.  The rooms are very quaint and I thought it was so cool that my room used to be a roller skating rink.  The floors are actually the original floors from the skating rink back in the day. Another plus about staying at Napa River Inn, is each morning they deliver fresh breakfast and pastries to your room from Sweetie Pies, located right next door!

We started off our trip by having lunch and getting introduced to the Vice Mayor of Napa at Compline Wine.  We learned so much about the history and evolution of the city, which was all super interesting, especially because a lot of people don't even know that Napa has a downtown!  The lunch consisted of amazing food (the duck breast and the broccolini are to die for) and wine, followed by a butterscotch pudding & cheese plate for dessert.  My mouth is watering just thinking about it!!

Our next stop was a wine tasting (more wine, of course!) at Vermeil Wines.  We tried everything from Chardonnay to Syrah, which was all delicious, I can't even pick a favorite! This winery is very modern and is actually named after the family of Dick Vermeil, the former NFL coach.  After wine tasting, we headed over to Gran Electrica for some yummy Mexican food and margaritas.  I loved how it was super trendy and it was also packed for a Tuesday night, which is always a good sign!

One thing that I thought I really wasn't going to enjoy was kayaking.  I've only done it one other time and didn't have the best experience so I was hesitant, but it ended up being so much fun! The Napa river was surprisingly very calm and peaceful and it was such a pretty view of all the trees & greenery (and even downtown!) My arms were pretty dang sore the next day, but it was well worth it.

After freshening up from being out on the water all morning, we made our way over to a hands-on cooking class at CIA (Culinary Institute of America) at Copia.  This was SO much fun and we all got the chance to cook different things (I helped with the delicious dessert) and eat it afterwards! We had rosemary lamb, vegetable and goat cheese risotto and a strawberry dessert... with more wine of course. :)

This picture was taken right outside of CIA.  The views of the mountains there are absolutely breathtaking... lots of photo opp opportunities.  My dress is HERE.

After dinner we went to the newly opened Archer Hotel located right in the heart of Downtown to check out Sky & Vine, an amazing rooftop bar/restaurant with killer views. The cocktails were  delicious and the charcuterie plate is a must-order.

On our final day we had breakfast at the Oxbow Public Market, which is a gathering place for great food and wine in Napa.  There are tons of cute little shops and restaurants, so everyone could choose what they wanted for breakfast without all dining at the same place.  Inside the market they have Annette's chocolates, a local chocolate shop that we actually toured earlier in the day.  The chocolate was SO good, so I ended up picking some up for my mom for Mother's day!

Before heading to the airport, we did a wine tasting at Whetstone Wine Cellars, a family owned and operated winery in the heart of Napa.  We had lunch catered in to soak up the endless amounts of wine we consumed, while we chatted about how we were so sad to be leaving!

I had such a great time and am counting down the days until I can return!

If you know me, you know I always have my nails painted and feel naked without it.  I was on a huge no-chip run for awhile but realized that it was slowly ruining my real nails (sad face) so when I saw these pretty colors by Zoya I was super excited! These three colors (from L to R) Jordan, Leia and Abby are the perfect wedding neutrals for fingers and toes.  The pink color (Jordan) is so soft and gorgeous, I can't wait to rock it on my big day!  What I really love about Zoya, is the polish is Big10 free, meaning it's free of all of the nasty and toxic stuff you'd find in other nail polishes.  It's vegan-friendly and there are over 500 shades to choose from!
