College Fashion Week Recap

Last weekend I had the awesome opportunity to attend College Fashion Week as press. Even though I am years out of college, it was so fun getting to experience some new designs by our current millennials, as some of the designers are in big retailers such as Nordstrom! The night started out by visiting some of the amazing sponsors, such as Kind Bars, sweetgreen, Boxed Water and Ice Sparkling Water.  We then took our seats and the show began.  The hair of all the models, which were all so beautiful styled, were done by Drybar and the fashion was all incredibly adorable. This year’s trends/scenes included RUSH with emerging fashion designers/entrepreneurs Ali & Ariel and Frill Clothing, FESTIVAL with Foray Collective, STUDY CHIC with My Social Canvas and GIRLS’ NIGHT OUT with Bow & Drape. My favorite line from the show was Bow and Drape- their sweatshirts have the cutest sayings and are so adorable. It was definitely awesome to see these young women pursuing their dreams in the fashion industry and must have been so surreal seeing their designs come to life on a runway.  Her Campus Media did an amazing job putting on the event, and the space it was held at- 1st Ward Events was gorgeous.

The swag bag I received consisted of so many amazing products:

A candy bar?! Yes, please! So many delicious goodies.

Delicious salads from the new sweetgreen in Chicago... the guac green is to die for!

We were able to keep hydrated thanks to Boxed Water!

I highly recommend attending College Fashion Week if you are able to!  There are still tickets left for the LA Show, but if you can't make it to that one- set a reminder for next year!  I definitely look forward to going again next year if they come back to Chicago.

Lace-Up Sweater

SWEATER: Chicwish // JEANS: 7 For All Mankind // BAG: Gigi New York // BOOTS: Sold out, Similar HERE and HERE // EARRINGS: Anoki Boutique

Happy Monday friends-- and back to the grind! Hope everyone had a great weekend.  I attended College Fashion Week this weekend and had such a great time!  So many adorable up and coming fashion designers to get excited about- I can't wait to share with you later this week. :)

Anyways, as you probably know, I have a huge thing for anything with laces- and this sweater is no different! The laces on the top and on the sleeves give it the perfect touch of added fun and it is probably one of the most softest/comfortable sweaters I own (not to mention only $50!).  I've already worn this sweater a handful of times and get so many compliments every time.  I am also a big fan of suede boots for fall, and the color of these are gorgeous-- burgundy is definitely my favorite the season! I just recently picked up a pair of tan OTK suede boots and am thinking about going back for a black pair as well!  You can never have enough OTK boots, ya feel me?!

Hope everyone has a great Monday! I am headed to the Bulls game tonight! xoxo

Join me for College Fashion Week!

Hey guys! I am super excited because this weekend I will be attending College Fashion Week in Chicago as press!  Even though I am far past my college years, College Fashion Week is truly a celebration of Fashion for any ages.  For the past 5 years, College Fashion Week has been a platform for fashion-loving college students to come together to celebrate their bodies in a true form of self-expression.  This year they will be showcasing top talent from the next generation of designers from all around the country!

This year, College Fashion Week’s lineup includes our future leading fashion bosses including the women behind Ali & Ariel, Bow & Drape, Foray, Frill Clothing, and My Social Canvas. CFW features 4 distinct runway shows in 3 hours, so it's sure to be a fun-filled, packed evening! CFW will be held at 1st Ward Events (2033 W North Ave) from 6-9pm.

I am super excited about all the amazing sponsors at this years event!

The sponsors include:

Rebecca Minkoff- I am an avid RM lover, especially when it comes to her handbags, I probably own at least 7! I can't wait to see what she'll be showcasing at CFW!

Vince Camuto- My all time favorite shoe designer.  I am obsessing over all of the amazing booties and OTK boots this year!

Drybar- If you're not familiar with Drybar, they are a chain-based blow-out bar that originated in California but now as locations all over, including Chicago! The blowouts are $40 and you can pretty much get any style you like (however they do offer a "lookbook" to choose from as well)

Fitbit- Yes, the awesome fitness tracker wristbands... I am definitely hoping to snag one up!

Perfumania- Super excited to see what fragrances are the most popular this year!

SkinnyPop- I am addicted to this stuff!! We have the little bags at work and I constantly find myself snacking on this popcorn.

KIND Bars- Healthy and delicious at the same time, need I say more? (My favorite is the Caramel and Sea Salt!)

Bertha Watches- This is my first time hearing about the brand, but I have to say their watched are adorable!!

And SO many more!! I can't wait to show you all what I get!

Now on to the good news... YOU too can attend CFW!! The tickets are still available and they are only $10!  Buy tickets here.  Make sure to also follow along on Instagram and Snapchat!

Must Try Trends for Fall!

It’s finally starting to feel like fall, so it’s a perfect opportunity to get into some of the best fall fashion trends. The biggest styles for this season were seen strutting the runway this spring, and you’ve probably already taken note of quite a few that you want to try. To sum up the trend scape for fall 2016, there are a lot of throwback silhouettes and fabrics. The '70s and '90s and big proponents for taste making this year, and they’ve undoubtedly given a whole new meaning to modern fashion.

People say history repeats itself, and this season’s fashion is a testament to that statement. If you’re wondering what some of the wearable retro looks are this fall then look no further. I’ve compiled the top ones that anyone can pull off. All it takes is a little tinkering and the infusion of your personal style to take these trends and make them fit into your wardrobe.

1. Shirts under dresses

We can blame (or thank) the ‘90s for this look. Remember when layering your T-shirt under a dress suddenly become uncool? Well, it’s cool again. And for some reason, it actually looks super chic. Something about the “I don’t care” vibe it gives off is very appealing. A lot of the looks compiled here give you an idea of how to style yours.

2. Over-the-knee boots

This trend boldly came onto the scene last year, but only the most adventurous fashionistas were brave enough to give it a try. Now, thigh highs are suitable for just about anyone. My tip is to wear them with a short slip dress or shorts, but if you need more styling advice, this article has some pointers. Just remember that OTK boots are a big statement, so the rest of your outfit can be very simple.

3. Velvet

There’s no doubt that velvet is the hottest fabric for this fall. You might be a bit apprehensive about this luxe material, but trust me when I say it can be made totally casual. You just need to find what works for you—whether it’s a velvet top, booties, or a dress, as long as it’s velvet, you’re on-trend. The fabric does a great job of adding texture to simple outfits, so have fun with it!

4. Leather jackets

Are leather jackets ever really out of style? One thing’s for sure—the cool biker look is at an all-time look this season, so you better jump on the trend before it’s too late! For some sleek moto looks, this page has plenty of inspiration. The best part about a leather jacket is it adds an edge to otherwise feminine ensembles, which is great for changing things up and getting more out of your wardrobe.

5. Florals

This trend might seem out of place, but I assure you it’s not! Fall florals are big this season, and the way to make sure you’re wearing flower patterns suitable for autumn, a good rule of thumb is to remember that most fall florals have a black background and deeper, more romantic tones. Darker hues suggest cooler weather as opposite to the bright and pastel colors of spring.

What are some of your favorite trends for fall?! xoxo

The Perfect Fall Vest...

VESTWaverly Grey // LACE UP TOPRevolve // JEANS: Sold out (Similar HERE) // BAGGigi New York // SHOESNordstrom

Happy Monday everyone! Can you believe how fast the weekend went?!  I wore this outfit this past weekend because it was freeezing (well not really, but compared to lately COLD) and I am obsessed with this vest from Waverly Grey.  Despite it being super flattering on, it actually kept my really warm walking around outside! Simple, but perfect for fall! I've also been carrying this Gigi New York bag I got during Fashion Week everywhere, it's the perfect size!

This weekend I walked around some of the neighborhoods in Chicago and was so excited by all of the fun halloween decorations everywhere... I am dying to carve some pumpkins and eat some apple cider donuts! Does anyone know of any pumpkin patches that are in the city or close to?!  I also really want to visit a haunted house before the month is over.. so if you have any recommendations, please send them my way! xoxo

Fall Embroidered Dress...

DRESSZaful // SHOESSam Edelman // BAGGucci // WATCHWristology (use code 'MARVELOUS20' for 20% off!) // NECKLACEAnthropologie

Fall outfits are my favorite... especially when I get to wear dresses!  Since the weather has been pretty good this past week, I was able to finally wear this adorable embroidered dress I got from Zaful.  The detailing on the sleeves are so much fun!  I will warn you, this dress is on the shorter side (I am 5'5), so I would recommend sizing up.  I paired it with my favorite classic black suede pumps by Sam Edelman (thanks ShopStyle!) for a dressier look.  I also think this dress would look perfect with a pair of black over the knee boots as well!

Does anyone have anything fun planned this weekend?  I am going on a trolley with some work people tonight (I haven't been on one in about 2 years, so this should be interesting ha ha) and then hoping this weekend is pretty low-key... it'd be nice to get a bike ride in before it gets too cold!!

Off The Shoulder Bell Sleeves

TOPShein c/o // SKIRTLC Lauren Conrad // CLUTCHEtsy // HEELSSam Edelman // NECKLACEAnthropologie // WATCHMarc by Marc Jacobs // BRACELETStella and Dot

Happy Monday and first week of October! I am so excited that fall is finally here and I can wear suede again.  This suede skirt from the LC Lauren Conrad collection is currently on sale for under $20 and comes in 4 colors! I am contemplating buying another color because I love it so much... not to mention it fits amazing.  I usually size down one size in her line because I feel like it runs a little bit on the bigger end.  I recently received this top from Shein, which is also so fun for fall.  The bell sleeves are my absolute favorite thing right now, I've been drawn to so many tops with bell sleeves and this one is perfect AND only $15.

Does anyone have any fun plans for the week?! I feel like it's so busy and I am already overwhelmed... but this weekend was super relaxing and so much fun, I feel like I am ready to take it on!  xoxo
