Stepping Out for Fall in Rockport x Zappos!

This post is sponsored by Zappos.  As always, all opinions are my own.  Thank you for supporting brands that make Marvelous in the Midwest possible!

Welp... first off, so sorry for being MIA on here lately! With the wedding finally over && leaving on our honeymoon for 11 days (more to come soon!) you can say things have been pretty hectic around here.  Excited to bring lots more content your way this fall!

Speaking of fall... can you guys believe tomorrow is already the first day of fall?! I am such a summer girl and love LOVE the heat, but I have been getting that itch to dress for fall, especially to wear boots & booties again.  One of my absolute most favorite places to buy shoes is Zappos.  Whenever I need a new pair of shoes, I can rely on Zappos for their amazing customer service, super fast & free shipping (I usually get things in only 2 days tops... perfect for procrastinators like me!) and their massive range of styles. Another plus? If they don't fit or work out for whatever reason, you have 365 days to return them-- a whole YEAR!

One brand I was recently introduced to on Zappos is Rockport. I ordered the Rockport Cobb Hill Collection Rashel V Cut Boot and quickly found them to be the most comfortable booties I own thanks to their cushioned footbed and soft fabric lining.  These stylish booties are a fall wardrobe essential especially if you live in a city where you do a lot of walking... it feels like you're walking on a cloud!  This specific pair comes in 4 different colors and is uniquely versatile that can take from day to night without having to change shoes.

Style tip: Pair these booties with skinny jeans and an oversized sweater, or a dress with a boyfriend cardigan for some other super cute fall looks... & I promise, your feet will love you!

Time to unpack! xoxo

Fall Shoe- Ready with madden NYC & Kohl's

This post is sponsored by Kohl's. I was paid for this post and received the included shoes as compensation.

If there is one thing I can't live without, it's most likely a good pair of shoes.  I own well over 100 pairs of shoes but still continue to buy new ones when I find a good deal on a pair I love.  Once in a while, I will splurge on a designer pair or a pair that's relatively expensive, but I typically love to buy ones that are trendy yet don't break the bank so I always have a new pair on hand.

One of my favorite places to find affordable shoes is definitely Kohl's.  With their extensive lines of everything from active sneakers to high heels and sandals, I promise you can find just about any pair of shoes your looking for there.  I was recently introduced to the madden NYC line that's sold at Kohl's and fell in love with these black multi sneakers.  They are perfect for fall, come in TEN different colors and are literally one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes I own.  They elastic band backing for an easy slip-on style, and pre-tied laces so you don't have to worry about actually tying your shoes!  I've loved these shoes for running around town (living in Chicago, they're perfect for walking!) and also for a more laid back casual style... and best of all, all colors are only $39.99!

Another pair that I absolutely love, are these casual but super cute sandals in rose gold.  These are also the perfect transition from summer to fall sandals, come in 5 different colors and look amazing with any dress, pair of shorts, jeans etc.  The rose gold color is so pretty in person and really dresses up any outfit.  These sandals feature a backless design, adjustable strap and a cute toe ring style for maximum comfort and cuteness!  Kohl's is currently running a fall sale where sandals are currently $39.99 (originally $49.99) plus they always have additional promo codes- so make sure to look out for that for an amazing deal... you may even want to stock up in every color!

Bodysuits && the Best Denim Skirt!

SKIRT: Madewell // BODYSUIT: Topshop // SHOES: Elaine Turner (c/o) // BAG: Elaine Turner (c/o) // EARRINGS: Etsy // SUNGLASSES: Nordstrom

Hi everyone!! It's been a hot minute since I've been on here actually sharing an outfit post... with Wedding planning and traveling the last couple months, it's really gotten the best of me!  I wanted to make sure to post this look because I have gotten SO many questions on each piece, so I wanted to make it easy for you guys to shop directly!

Is anyone else obsessed with denim skirts lately?! When I found this one, I was instantly sold! It's stretchy, super comfortable and fits like a glove! It's also on sale right now (half price!) so if you were looking at purchasing it, I would definitely get it before it's gone. Another thing I am super into lately is bodysuits.  It's funny to see fashion come back around full cycle but they are extremely flattering and hold you in, in all the right places.  This one comes in three different colors, is only $35 and has the prettiest lace detailing at the top. I really want it in black as well!

Both my bag and shoes are from Elaine Turner, a new brand I was recently just introduced to!  I received them in the June Edit box (see more HERE!) and love how neutral both are to go with any outfit.  These shoes are seriously like butter soft and actually stay tied around your ankles unlike other lace up shoes.  Last but certainly not least... these earrings!! I have them in multiple colors because they're super affordable and SO much fun! Every time I wear them, I get numerous compliments and everyone wants to know where I got them.  They're extremely lightweight which I love and literally adds a little something extra to any outfit.  For $10 you really can't go wrong... :)

Last Minute Wedding Planning Tips & Tasks

We officially have a month to go (CRAZY!)... and I feel like now is about time the reality and stress really have started to hit!  I've been using WeddingWire throughout my entire planning process (planning on your own, without a planner can be exhausting!) but have really started utilizing them even more with it being so close.  One of my favorites has been the 5 must-have items for your last minute checklist.  Things that I wouldn't have even thought about bringing include a steamer (duh!) for any last minute wrinkles on my wedding dress or the bridesmaid dresses... because let's be honest, who wants wrinkly dresses in wedding photos?!  Also, money to tip all of the vendors, a backup phone charger and a next day bag are all things you won't want to forget or you'll have nothing to wear to brunch the next morning.

According to my WeddingWire checklist and what I need to lock down with less than 40 days is obtaining a marriage license, creating a custom snapshot geofilter (these are SO cute and can be found all over Etsy, I highly recommend!) and call guests who haven't RSVP'd yet.  We have gotten a good amount of RSVP's back, but there are obviously going to be some people who forget, so make sure to follow up to make sure they are coming!  This is also an important thing to get taken care of right away so that if you're doing place cards (I am!) you know exactly how many to order and what names to use.  This can be said for the ceremony programs, menus, etc as you'll need a final count before ordering so that none go to waste.

The best advice I have heard throughout this process is just to sit back, relax and breathe as it will all be over in a blink of the eye.  There are times when it's going to be extremely difficult, but lean on and have conversations with your future hubby, maid of honor, family members, etc as they should be there to help and guide you along the way!

Last Minute Wedding Tasks:

  • Get marriage license- you'll need this to get married... each state has different requirements but it's typically 60 days to 24 hours.
  • Make a playlist of all of your favorite songs and what you want your DJ or band to play (or not to play!
  • Prepare tip envelopes (it can be cash or check!)
  • Have a final dress fitting to make sure the dress still fits in all the right places.
  • Finalize Wedding Ceremony & Vows- if you're doing personalized ones, start writing them now!
  • Confirm delivery times with your vendors (think cake, decor, rentals, etc!
  • Get a spray tan/ wax- if that's for you!
  • Pack for the honeymoon... we are going to Italy and leaving two days later, so I want to make sure everything is set and ready to go so we don't have to worry about it later!
  • Pick up rings- you'll want to make sure they fit and you have them in a safe space before the ceremony.
  • Create a day of schedule and have these sent out to all of your bridesmaids so they know the flow of the day so they can prepare.
  • Get a mani/pedi!
I also suggest downloading the WeddingWire app to make sure you always have everything at the touch of a button!

xoxo

What's in My Beach Bag with Gordmans

Thank you Gordmans for sponsoring today's post.  As always, all opinions are my own.  Thank you for supporting brands that make Marvelous in the Midwest possible!

Whether you're headed to the beach or pool this summer, there are always those necessities that everyone loves to bring along!  I teamed up with Gordmans to show you all affordable must-haves to bring to your next sun session!

1. A fun beach tote. I love this one I got a while back from Shein.  It's the perfect size to throw a towel in with all the necessities.  It's a sturdy bag and has a lining in the inside to keep sand out!  This one is no longer available, but I found a similar one here and here!

2. Sunscreen is a MUST! I love this one by ColorScience. It's a powder-based sunscreen which I love, as it doesn't give off a greasy feel or overly strong scent.  This sunscreen can also be used alone or under makeup!

3. Flip Flops.  I always look for the most water-proof option for sandals but still want them to look cute! I am personally not a fan of the rubber flip-flops, so I love the jelly material of these Capelli New York ones.  They're easy to walk in, the sand stays off your feet and the bow & studs make these super feminine and adorable for lunch or errands after!  I found these on sale at Gordmans for only $6.98... I almost bought them in black too!

4. Lip balm.  I pretty much can't live without lip balm.  I usually have 2-3 in my purse at all times, next to my bed, in the car etc.  I always make sure to throw one in my beach bag before I head out, or I know I will regret it once I'm there.  I scooped up this Nature Bee's lip balm for only $0.99 in the checkout line at Gordmans!

5. A water bottle to stay hydrated! I found this adorable faux marble print one at Gordmans which is insulated to keep drinks cold.  It was only $7.99 and they had so many different colors and patterns to choose from!

6. Sunglasses.  A good pair of sunglasses can make all the difference when in the sun, so I always look for a pair that is UV protected.  I also found these retro brown tortoise sunnies at Gordman's for only $4.99!

7. Headphones.  If I'm not in the water, I am usually sitting out listening to music and reading a book or magazine.  I love these rose gold Bluetooth headphones I found at Gordmans for $9.99.  They're super easy to charge and work just as well as other name brand headphones that retail for over $100!

Palm Springs Bachelorette Party

A couple of weeks ago, I ventured to Palm Springs with my best girlfriends (and my mom and Matt's mom!) for the best bachelorette party!  I had never been to Palm Springs before, so I wasn't sure what to expect- but it exceeded ALL my expectations and I can't wait to go back!  The weekend that we were there was one of the hottest weekends of the year-- temps were well above 110.  If you're traveling to Palm Springs between June- August, be prepared to be mainly by a pool all day.  It's not humid like the Midwest, which is amazing, but it was still HOT!

We flew into LA because it was cheaper than flying direct to Palm Springs from Chicago, but we didn't hit any traffic so our drive was only 2 hours.  Since we got into LA around 8am, we had the whole day on Thursday in Palm Springs!  Below was our itinerary:

THURSDAY

12pm | Lunch & Margaritas @ Azucar

3pm | Check-in to our Airbnb (We stayed at the Pretty in Pink)

7pm | Taco Bar Dinner at the house

8pm | Games

FRIDAY

9am | Breakfast & Mimosa's at the house

10am | Poolside Lounging

12pm | Lunch @ house from The Sandwich Spot (their salads were amazing!!)

6pm | Games

8pm | Dinner @ 849 Restaurant (this restaurant was the cutest)

10pm | Drinks at The Tonga Hut

SATURDAY

10am | Brunch @ Cheeky's (we even had a Michelle Obama sighting!)

12pm | Tram Ride up the Mountain

3pm | Poolside Lounging

7pm | Private Chef Dinner at the house

9pm | Games

SUNDAY

11 am | Check Out

The Itinerary was the perfect mix of relaxing and party-time, so no one ever felt too tired for the next thing!  One thing I will mention is that Palm Springs has a very strict noise ordinance in place.  This means no music outside or loud voices after 10pm.  A lot of these Airbnb's are located in residential neighborhoods which is why this ordinance is in place.  I never really even noticed it... if you're with the right people you won't even need the music! :)

Now onto some of the amazing vendors that made this trip even more amazing!!

BigMouth Inc filled our pool with some adorable pool floats-- we had a giant ring, flamingo, swan, avocado, and a unicorn!  These floats were perfect for lounging in the pool all day (which we did every day!)

I gifted each of the girls attending a goody bag filled with the cutest little must-haves for Palm Springs!

'But First Palm Springs' Eye Mask - The Sleepy Cottage
Monogrammed Flamingo Tumbler - Sequins in the South
Palm Springs Before the Rings Tank Top (pictured above!) - The Couture Kitten
I Do Crew Swimsuits - The Couture Kitten

Another HUGE shoutout to these amazing companies for stocking our fridge and keeping us hydrated all weekend long:

ONEHOPE Wine- the PRETTIEST glittered champage bottles & delicious Cabernet! ONEHOPE donates half of its profits to charity and each ONEHOPE wine varietal supports a different charitable cause or organization.

The Palm by Whispering Angel - The Palm is a blend of Grenache, Cynsault and Syrah made from grapes which are selected from the best vineyards in the appellation CĂ´teaux d’Aix-en-Provence. (this Rose was perfect for hanging poolside!)
Spiked Seltzer - This seltzer comes in 6 different flavors and is super refreshing, especially on a hot summer day!  I love how it's all natural, low carb, and gluten free and tastes good too!

Thanks again to everyone (friends and retailers) for making this past weekend unforgettable! Now onto the Wedding... 2 more months to go!

My Kate Spade Themed Bridal Shower

I am so, so incredibly excited to share with you all my Bridal Shower from a couple weeks ago!  With the past couple of weeks being crazy (including having my bachelorette party in Palm Springs- more to come soon!) I finally had the chance to sit down and put this together.  I hope that if you're a bride to be, or know a bride to be, this can help be an inspiration for planning your own bridal shower!

A huge thanks to my MOH's and my mom for helping throw the BEST bridal shower a girl could ask for! We decided to go with a Kate Spade theme, and after we heard the news about her passing the week of, we thought it was an even better time to honor her and the happiness she's put into all of our lives with her bright and amazing designs.

The shower was held in Milwaukee at the Kimpton Journeyman Hotel (I am originally from Wisconsin, so we wanted to have a central location that was convenient for everyone) and they could not have been more spot on in helping our vision come to life.  From the chivari gold chairs to the black and white table runners and pink napkins, to the bouquet of flowers on each table, they really hit it out of the park and made the room absolutely beautiful.  When we first visited the Journeyman to check out the space, I fell in love with the private room on the top floor.  It was the perfect space for our 30 guests and even included a private outdoor terrace (that sadly we couldn't use because of the rain.)  The black/white floors matched perfectly with the vision we had in mind and the room was nice, airy and bright- so it was perfect!

We had a delicious custom made cake and cookies from a local baker in our hometown that everyone just loved! The cake could not have been more on the theme, and the cookies were so pretty I didn't want to eat them!  We brunched on strawberry stuffed french toast, a Meditteranean frittata, and bacon followed by a build your own mimosa bar with different kinds of homemade juices and fruits.  We also had a coffee & tea bar set out for guests that wanted a little afternoon pick me up!

My MOH's found some super cute games to play, which sometimes can be corny- but were actually super fun! One was to see how well everyone knew me (one of my best friends won of course) and another was they asked Matt some questions ahead of time, and I had to guess his answers.  I pretty much got every one right... so I'd say we are on the same page! ;)

One question I get quite a bit is about opening gifts at a shower, and whether or not you should. I know in today's world, it's not that exciting for guests to sit and watch while the bride-to-be opens gifts, but I think it's an important and sort of the main reason for a shower in the first place.  Most guests like to watch you open their gift to see the excitement on your face and see the other gifts you've selected to start your new life with!  Typically this is done at the end of a Shower, so if someone really doesn't want to stick around for it- they are free to leave.  I decided to open gifts, and I am so glad I did! I have some amazing friends and family that got Matt and I the best gifts for our new home that we just bought together.  Another thing I recommend is having the groom stop by at the end to say hi to everyone and thank them.  Unfortunately, Matt wasn't able to attend, as he was flying back from his Bachelor party in Vegas, but I will be having another shower next month that he will come to!

This shower was truly one of the best days of my life, and I am SO thankful to everyone who came and made it so special. I can't wait to show you all my Bachelorette Party soon!! xoxo
